Our business started with a simple promise I made to my friend Marsha. Marsha and I rode our horses together at a boarding facility in Nashville. Marsha’s horse, Charlie, meant the world to her. While she battled cancer, she often said the only time she didn’t think about having cancer was when she was riding Charlie. A couple of weeks before she passed, I took a photo of her riding Charlie from last spring and turned it into a pendant for her. It was my way of preserving one of her most precious memories in an heirloom piece of jewelry that will last for many, many years.
After I made this pendant, I was hungry to practice making even more pendants! Here is an old photo of our dear dog Scout being transformed into a beautiful pendant. He was 11 then and we didn’t know how much time we would have left with him, so this pendant was very important to me. Now we make memorial pendants for many of our customers who have lost their pets and want something that they can wear close to their heart that reminds them of their precious pet.
After becoming comfortable with using photos of pets, I soon began using baby photos to make custom silver pendants of human babies, too. After having my first child, I used his photo to make pendants for the grandmothers. As soon as people saw these on the grandmothers’ necks, I began getting orders pretty much immediately.
I really truly enjoy making these pendants for all of my customers. They are a lot of hard work since they are all custom made, but it is so much fun to read the happy e-mails or see the smiles on their faces.
